A is for Alstroemeria……because they are
Available
Audacious
Appealing
Alstroemeria is one of those flowers that is sometimes overlooked when it comes to big fancy flower arrangements.
They are usually the least expensive choice in those grocery store flower marts!
Think about it….how often do you see these in the vases in a restaurant?
Our little Floral consulting business did the flowers for a wedding last weekend.
The color scheme included a lot of deep plum. We used lots of deep purple Alstroemeria!
The hardy little blossoms were just perfect for the wrist corsages.
We had lots to use in the table arrangements too!
We made the chair decor with bunches of Alstroemeria, some Wiegelia and Hosta leaves tied with dark plum ribbon.
Gorgeous and inexpensive….
Plus…we knew they would hold up well.
One of the perks of doing flowers for a wedding is access to the “leftovers”! Nobody wanted the chair decorations! I couldn’t just throw them away! So home they came to Sweetwater!
Here are the table decorations just tucked into the vases on the mantel along with some leftover green Hydrangea and the seed pods and curly sticks that have been in those vases all summer!
There were still more blossoms left…..so these went into the Powder room wall vases.
Enjoy the show!
